blades 29/71, XX Performance, carbon, green
XX Blade is being updated from the it’s first iteration. This release builds onto the original XX philosophy, power and lightness.
What has changed? The spreadtow carbon fibre from the original has been updated to a T700 15K carbon weave. Why have we done this? With this spreadtow we are able to make blades as flat as possible. The advantage of this to enable super fast reactivity in every kick. As there is inherent resistance standard carbon fibre weaves, that most other brands use. The other advantages is we are to able to add two extra layers of carbon fibres without increasing weight or stiffness. The two extra layers is what now gives this blade it’s reactivity.
You may well ask, how can more layers be lighter and less stiff. This all comes back to the spreadtow we will be using. In standard carbon fibre weave patterns there are troughs between each of the weaves. And this is where resin pools to give a flat glass finish for composite blades. These pools of resin add extra weight when you take the sum of the troughs that have resin in. And as the blade flexes these troughs of resin pools actually create natural resistance to the blade. And can in some cases change a flex rating by one or two steps in flex rating. So with our spreadtow these troughs are almost non existent, due to the flatness of this spreadtow.
What does this do for finning performance? In short you get more power for the same input you put in. We conservatively predict you’ll be able to dive 10% deeper than your PB with the same amount of effort as before.
However 2971 is not only about engineering excellence and performance focus design. We as a company assume that our blades will achieve this regardless, what we really strive for is aesthetics. The pursuit of designing and producing beautiful blades.
All XX are future proof for the release of 2971’s footpocket.
